Mission Statement

The mission of the Jessamine County PVA Office is to provide courteous, accurate and efficient services to the residents of Jessamine County and any other individual or entity needing our services. This office is bound by the Commonwealth of Kentucky’s Constitution and Statutes, and we make it our mission to serve you in a competent manner. We are dedicated in assisting you with accurate information and in providing fair and timely assessments of real property.

Did You Know

The first and only fort in Jessamine County was established in 1779 near Keene, KY by Levi Todd.
Subdivisions started in Jessamine County in the late 1940's.
High Bridge was opened in 1877, as the first cantilever bridge built on the American Continent.
Located on the Kentucky River in Jessamine County, The Valley View Ferry is the oldest continuing business in the state.
Door to door mail delivery began in Jessamine County in 1926.
Jessamine is the only county in KY with a feminine name.
Jessamine County became the 36th county in the state. Today, Kentucky consists of a total of 120 counties.
At one time, Jessamine County was the southern most part of Fayette County.
The first 4th of July celebration West of the Alleghenies was held in Jessamine County in 1794 on the plantation of Colonel William Price.
Jessamine County was formed on December 19, 1798.
In October, 1799, the first lot sold in Jessamine County.
In 1897, Jessamine County got its first telephone and phonograph.
Jessamine County had the first all-female jury in the United States in November, 1920 Circuit Court.
All of the southern border of Jessamine County is formed by The Kentucky River. It extends roughly 42 miles long.
The county seat, Nicholasville, was named for George Nicholas, who drew up the first KY Constitution.
Jessamine County consists of 174 square miles of total land. Of this total, 173 square miles is land and only 1 square mile is water.
The Riney-B Railroad Company was incorporated on March 10, 1888.
